PREMISE
All the stories are true. Years ago, the Fae came out because technology was making it harder and harder for them to hide, and it's been a couple of years since the werewolves did the same. The world is changing day by day. Humans and the paranormal live side by side, but it's not easy nor is it simple. While the Marrok has taken great lengths and care to preserve the werewolves' PR front, everyone - wolf, fae, vampire and other - know that it's only a matter of time before the humans start thinking that perhaps the other stories meant to warn of the dark are true. This is an open post set in the universe of Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series. The books are amazing and you should definitely check them out. More information via this Wiki link. The rules are simple: Drop a prompt, leave a tag, and let's play!

Come home with me tonight? [ He counters, feeling more than a little bold. His other hand has settled at her hip, fingers squeezing gently in what he hopes is a reminder of her last visit to his home.
It is forward. But since they have made their intentions clear to each other, it is a question worth venturing. ] I feel the need to make up for my earlier misstep. The woods near my house are not the Lovers, but there is room enough for us to run and play.
[ He has guest rooms and he will not push for intimacy so soon after he promised that he would willingly wait. ] But only if the idea is acceptable to you.
no subject
Yes, I'd love to go for a run with you tomorrow or the day after...and I definitely want to come home with you tonight, on the assumption that you're not planning to tuck me into a guest room for the evening.
[She'd have to be a dead little wolf to not remember how their last breakfast went, or how his hands had felt on her hips. How she had wanted so much more and only held back on the strength of their agreement to take things slow.]
If a guest room is what you have in mind it would be easier for me to return home tonight.
[There is just no way that she would be able to sleep under his roof, in a separate room. Having him that close in his bed and yet still too far would keep her restless and awake.]
no subject
Then it is good that I have no intention of offering you my guest room, mi amor. Not when my bed is so much more comfortable.
[ The promise of touching her in the way he's been fantasizing about is enough to keep him behaved for the rest of the evening. He might also just be able to contain his pleasure if she intends to stay close.
With one last kiss to the corner of her mouth he turns his lips to her ear. ] Let us go and eat. I have a feeling we will need it.
no subject
She has absolutely no idea how she's going to contain herself now in front of the rest of the pack. Before she'd had every intention of staying very close to Asil, and now she half wonders if she'll need to be on the opposite side of the room just to keep from embarrassing herself. Blowing out a breath, eyes closed as she listens to him speak into her ear, Eun shivers.]
We definitely will if I have anything to say about it.
[Her hand slides down the back of his neck, down his back until she can pivot outward from him once more. Her hand finds his, and she laces their fingers together before tugging him onward toward the pack. The air outside is cool enough to help with the flush to her cheeks, and Eun thinks that she's just managed to calm down enough by the time they get to Bran's. By now, she knows it's expected on an evening like this to simply let herself in, and she does so, pulling the door open and stepping in. She tows Asil in behind her, wanting him close as they face the music, so to speak.
Idly, she wonders if they will react to their appearance or continue on as if nothing out of the ordinary happened previously.]
no subject
He will, however, subtly stake his claim since the three stooges seem unable to hide their curiosity.
Have a kiss to the cheek, darling. ] I think Bran needs to speak with me. Go mingle, querida. I shall follow and pilfer us a bottle of wine.
no subject
His kiss to her cheek is perfectly timed, and well-picked in retrospect. She smiles at once at the gesture, entirely unfeigned, and squeezes his hand in response. It had been affectionate, familiar, but not platonic in the least. Subdued enough that she does not respond to him the way she had earlier, but not so much that the younger wolves will mistake it.]
A port, if you can find one.
[A dark, sweet dessert wine sounds ideal for the evening. She releases his hand with a quick wink, and after a quick survey of the room makes her way over to where the cluster of women have gathered. They make room for her at once, and Eun sits between Kara and Peggy, at once resting a hand at Kara's back fondly.]
no subject
"I told you that the run would do you good." Circumspect, as always, the Marrok.
He huffs and leans sideways against the wooden banister. The Cornick home base was ridiculously large - but he would be hypocritical to remark on it given that his estate in Spain had been even larger. ]
I fear I shall need to make amends for stalking their little troupe. Tag caught on later than Juste that I had settled not thirty feet from them.
[ There's a mild snarl from the berserker across the room, but it prompts laughter from his companions punctuated by a declaration of "Damn sneaky bastard." ]
You are very welcome, mi cielito. I live to keep you children on your toes.
[ He graciously accepts a glass of dry white from Bran and proceeds to listen in on the conversation he'd interrupted about the latest word on their beloved Wellesley.
Across the room, Kara is happily snacking on a plateful of butter cookies even as Anna makes a face at Peggy.
"I don't know how you still smoke those things."
The petite woman laughs, standing close to the screen that wraps around the open-air alcove. "Cloves. Can't feel the nicotine, but I love the taste."
To Eun, Carrie smiles and leans in, voice low: "I hope it wasn't awkward that I left his things by yours. The two of you seemed familiar so I erred on the side of caution." ]
no subject
It's Anna's comment to Peggy that draws her attention, and Eun breathes in the secondhand smoke with a brief sigh of pleasure. She does not mind in the least that one of the benefits of being a werewolf is that she can enjoy some things that would otherwise be harmful to her. Cigarettes would not be her vice of choice, but she could make an exception for cloves and flavored tobacco in a hookah.
Carrie's low comment pulls her away from Anna and Peggy's interaction, and she glances over to the woman speaking, offering her a faint smile and a shake of her head.]
No, it was fine, not awkward. You're right, we are familiar, so it all worked out.
[Would Asil have taken her belt or lowered himself to the ground the way he had, if his clothes had been placed at another part of the barn? Eun doesn't worry about that overmuch, and instead offers her hand to Carrie.]
I'm Eun, of course, and I'm so glad I get a chance to meet you tonight. Both of you, really. [The last is directed to Peggy, all sincerity, before she turns to thank Anna for bringing her a drink to enjoy as well. Taking a sip, she glances around at the ladies there, wondering if they will work their way around to questioning her or not. For the moment, she decides to wait and see if they will come hunting answers rather than elk.] There hadn't been time before we all had to change or I would have introduced myself sooner.
no subject
Wellesley - the wolf once known as Frank Bright - has been doing small work for them where the Hardesty Witches are concerned. There is concern voiced, naturally, that he was sent off into the urban wilds of New York, but so far what allies they have, have been cooperative.
"Here," Peggy sets her pack of Indonesian cigarettes on the table in front of Eun. "Have one. Carrie's been on my case to quit." There is no heat behind the words, only fondness - which soon turns to laughter given the human woman's retort: "Only because I get tempted to have one whenever you do."
"We're so happy that you enjoyed the Hunt." Anna slides in beside Eun. "Charles and I were stalking a moose - mostly on a bet because I would otherwise be running the other way over something that huge."
"It was so great, Anna. What a rush!"
"Are you going to tell your Dad about tonight?"
"Of course - and I'll be properly contrite and reassure him that Tag and Juste and Eun were there to make sure I was fine."
Perhaps it's because they are looking to be circumspect, but as the conversation continues, there is no mention of the little exchange before Bran ordered them all out of the barn. Nor any comment about their little entrance beyond Kara's recount of Asil hiding in the dark and an apology to Eun for the fright it had given her.
"It's something that he does, but I'm afraid I gave him the idea. I brought my laptop over and put Teen Wolf on Netflix and he said that Peter was a wimp and that he could do better."
Over on Asil's end, he tenses just a little, a touch worried perhaps that it is too soon for Eun - and additionally sipping from his wine at the embarrassing confession that he'd been subjected to a show about adolescent werewolves in small town California.
He will deny to the heavens that he enjoyed it. ]

"You were incredible, Kara," she had said with feeling, hoping to bolster the girl's confidence in how well she had done on the hunt.
It's not unexpected that it leads to talk of Asil's appearance at the hunt, and Eun's reaction to it. She waves a hand at Kara's attempts to apologize because it isn't her fault, and she doesn't want to go over it again when the matter has already been resolved to Eun's satisfaction in private. Still, Kara's subsequent explanation and mention of the inspiration for Asil's behavior piques her interest.]
You got him to watch Teen Wolf? [Eun is familiar enough with the show to find this absolutely unexpected and hilarious, and she risks a glance over to the other wolf with a little lift of her eyebrows. Immediately turning back to Kara, she tilts her head.] How many episodes would you say he sat through with you?
[Eun sips at her own wine with obvious amusement as Kara recounts that not only has he watched the first episode, but that they're about to start season three of the series. The younger girl doesn't add to her explanation much beyond that, and it's then that a rare, brief lull in conversation falls over the group of women. So far as Eun can tell, they appear to be attempting to remain respectful of her privacy and Asil's, which she appreciates, but at the same time she finds she doesn't like the idea of any silences among them.
So she lifts her glass to her lips, takes a casual sip, and in a voice low enough that only those closest would hear her, she asks those she considers her friends:]
So, is there a betting pool yet?
[If there isn't, she hopes it gives them a laugh and breaks the ice somewhat, and if there is, well, she would very much like to know what bets have been made.]
no subject
Content that Eun is occupied in good company, he steals a moment to retrieve a good port from the kitchen. It is well and good, perhaps. Since this happens right as the moment that Eun prompts her question.
It is Anna who ends up snorting her drink. Whereas Peggy chokes on her newly lighted cigarette, Carrie making a sympathetic face as she hands her werewolf mate a glass of water.
"Sorry, sorry. Charles warned me that there was a high chance you'd caught on."
Kara, precious Kara, seems completely lost. "What betting pool?"
"The one that Deitrich likely instigated, mon petit chou." It is Juste who has wandered over, a slim cigarette balanced expertly on his lips as he gestures to Peggy in a request for a lighter. His voice soft, with a faint French accent as he joins his packmate by the screen. "Sometimes I wonder if he has a death wish. But then again, he is so used to calling bets from across the ocean."
He nods once at Eun, offering a mild and sympathetic smile.
"Thank you for earlier. That will teach me to worry over the pack's pup when I should be paying attention to antlers."
In response, Kara tosses a butter cookie at him, which the older wolf deftly ducks to catch in his mouth. His wolf's eyes are pale blue, but they recede quickly and the smile in them is clear as daylight. ]

No apologies necessary, as long as someone tells me what was wagered on later when they've all beensettled.
[She can be a good sport about this, it isn't hard, and as tempting as it is to ask what might have been bet on, she refrains. It wouldn't be fair for her to know and slant the odds, and chances are high that at least one of the bets has to do with sex. Eun isn't about to bring anything like that up around Kara. In an odd way, it feels a little like how things were with her friends back home, and the familiar feeling is all too welcome to her in this community she's still getting to know.
Her gaze turns to Juste as he joins them, mentioning the instigator by name. She notes it for later, and the implication that Asil would react badly to finding out about a betting pool. It's possible that if it were just about him, he may not object, but Eun thinks the protective, territorial streak he no doubt possesses would take exception on Eun's behalf. Especially if it became a concern that the betting pool could negatively affect their courtship. Thankfully for them all, Eun finds the whole thing amusing, and perhaps a sign of their acceptance of her into their community.
To Juste, she lifts her glass, more at ease now that that she's broken the silence about the pool.]
I would have gone for the nose and been the one flying through the air like you if I hadn't been watching the four of you first.
[As he and Kara play games with the cookies, Eun glances back to see if Asil is still near Bran, and instead finds him missing. With his intention to steal another bottle of wine, she considers staying put, but she isn't certain when she'll have another opportunity to speak to Bran. Leaving her glass with the others, she slips away and heads toward the Marrok, indicating with a look and a slight tilt of her head that she'd like to speak to him in private, if possible.]
delivering u a bran huehue
"I trust your official welcome to Aspen Creek has been satisfactory?"
They looked good together. Thankfully the rest of the pack had the brains to not make too big a deal out of it. While he was sure that Asil was utterly aware that many of the pack respected and feared him, Bran is completely confident that the Moor was entirely too self-absorbed (and he means that with much kindness) to realize that there were a small number of wolves who worried over him.
Love was not a cure for all things. Bran knew that intimately well. But it could be a boon for those of them who had forgotten what living was like. ]
yeeee /o/
More than. I hadn't realized what a difference it would make to run with a pack with a different dynamic until tonight. [Her hands clasped together, she gives him a little nod, inclining her head in a show of respect.] I wanted to thank you again for inviting me here, and your generosity. And...
[She hesitates then, collecting her words. This conversation with Bran had been somewhat impulsive. Planning to offer him a dessert had felt much lighter than what she offers next.]
I also wanted to thank you for facilitating our privacy earlier. I had planned to relocate to somewhere private, but...it made things much easier to have the barn cleared so we could work things out. [She doesn't mention Asil by name, Bran knows what she is talking about.] More than that, while I know that you didn't do it for me, couldn't have...I wanted to thank you for not granting his request all these years.
[There is a part of her that feels a little silly saying it, wondering if perhaps she is overstepping, but there is another part of her that thinks about the strain it must have been for him. To have someone he is obviously close to hanging on to shreds of themselves, asking him to grant them death. She is young, and dealing with the first true stirrings of her heart, and perhaps it's for that reason she takes the risk of speaking out of turn.
She doesn't know if anyone has said as much to him, does not know if anyone would feel the same way or find it necessary to tell him, but she does.]
He's a singular man, and I would have missed out on meeting him if you'd done as he asked.
i gibe u moar with bonus eavesdropping asil
He offers his arm and leads Eun away from the large living area to another section of the house also accessible from the kitchen. When he's sure that no one will dare to eavesdrop, he turns to her. "I won't lie to you. I don't think you'd appreciate it."
He takes a breath and holds both her hands in his. "Asil is old. And while the magic that makes werewolves can keep us young and hale for many years, experience and life is something that comes with it's own problems."
"But I don't have many friends - I don't care much for sentimental drivel most days. But my wolves are all precious to me. And if you offer a chance for an old friend of mine to," he pauses, and there's a lilt in his voice to indicate that someone is most definitely listening in, then all the better. "To resort less to dramatics and instead live a little. Well."
The look on Bran's face is sober, but there's a smile in his voice. "I just might send Mason a crate of real wine."
Naturally, Asil decides, that is his cue. ]
I can call Pedro and ask for a shipment. I would even be happy to sign the note.
no subject
She wonders if this is something common among the old wolves or just a coincidence that he and Asil are both given to the gesture. Perhaps it is one they picked up from each other.
She listens, however, letting Bran get to his point in his own way. Truthfully, she had expected to simply give her thanks and appreciation, not get a response from him in turn. After, she would have gone to track down Asil to see if he'd gotten anything to eat yet. But the Marrok has apparently taken her rare moment of sincerity to heart, enough to offer her some in turn.
It is all too tempting to snort when Bran mentions the possibility of less dramatics from Asil, knowing that he'll likely pick up a new set of them as he and Eun continue to bond with each other, but she isn't so stupid as to not realize he's referring to Asil's requests. There's no helping the wicked, petty little smile on her face, however, as Bran mentions the possibility of sending her vintner alpha a case of wine, should she succeed.
It's a smile that fades with some surprise, as Asil appears to add his two cents. Slowly, Eun realizes that in a way, they offer her a compliment.]
Since someone said I would likely rearrange everyone to suit myself, [something she absolutely takes as a compliment] it might be smart to find that case of wine and a pen for the note.
no subject
"You're on your own, old man."
The words are meant in jest and oddly - in congratulations. Asip has to resist the urge to arch a brow and instead settles for watching as Bran pats Eun's shoulder right as he heads off.
"My money's on her by the way."
The low, indignant growl that reverberates in his throat is soft and half-meant. ]
It is bad enough the children place bets disrespectfully on their elders, but I suppose I should not be surprised that you encourage their ridiculous behavior.
[ The only response he gets is more laughter.
When he is sure Bran is out of ear-shot (though truthfully, is anyone ever given the man has sharp ears) he heaves a mock-exasperated sigh. Moving from his spot by the door frame, he presents Eun with his find Eun. ] Do you wish to share this here or back outside?
[ It will be clear that he does not mind returning to the rest. They have the rest of tonight after all. ]
no subject
Laughing low in her throat, she moves forward to meet Asil halfway, hands reaching forward to rest at his sides and slowly slide back until her arms wrap around his waist. Her expression is ever so slightly mirthful, but mostly very relaxed and content. A stark change from her tense fury earlier in the barn.]
Let's join the others for a little while. I have half a mind to place a bet of my own.
[If Asil seems truly agitated about the betting pool, she might point out that it is a lighthearted sign that they care about him, that they are happy for this development for him. But Eun does not press the matter more than that, leaning forward to press a brief kiss to his mouth--followed by an even quicker nip to his upper lip. Her hand finds his free one, and she leads them both back to the group.
This time, when they appear, the conversation doesn't drop off, and Eun is grateful for how little fuss it takes to secure a space for them to sit together rather than on two separate seats. Asil opens the port, pouring a glass for her, and then for himself, and Eun waits until he's sat back against his seat before she does the same. And, with some amusement, grasps his hand and rearranges it across the back of her shoulders to rest more comfortably against him.
She very much doubts that he does this often in light of the fact that he has said he does not usually even join the hunt. Eun can picture him spending more time talking with Bran during these times than mingling among the others. Some of whom are clearly intimidated by him. It pleases her immensely to have this moment, and not just for the newness of spending it pressed against the side of a werewolf she's come to care very deeply for. She could never relax like this after a hunt with Mason's pack. They would return to the winery or Mason's home for food and drinks, but Eun had almost always begged off, finding the experience a trial in light of how she would be hounded. It had been difficult to make friends in that pack as a result. Here, it is easier of course, but better still she realizes that she hasn't just found the people she likes best in this pack. She's found the people she would have picked to be friends with even if there was no pack to bind them.
Tag brings two trays to the table where they all relax, and despite a successful hunt, Eun and many of the others indulge in the finger foods offered. The wine has no effect on her as a wolf, there is no alcohol to counter, but Asil was not wrong that it would serve them well to eat more before retiring for the evening.
And while all of this is happening, Eun cannot help but pay particular attention to Asil and his interactions with the pack. The ebb and flow of conversation remains easy, and but she and her wolf cannot help but be curious about how he gets along with the other members of the pack, besides Kara and Anna. This too, is part of getting to know him better. No doubt he is doing the same, watching her interactions with Kara who she is coming to treat like a younger sister, Anna who could quickly become her main confidante, or Peggy and Carrie, both of whom it's clear Eun likes a great deal. While Eun has spent the most time with Juste and Tag among the male werewolves in the pack, aside from Asil, it's clear also that she does so out of genuine enjoyment of their company, easily adapting to the varied personalities of all present.
It's lovely. Eun continues to realize the impact Mason's werewolves had had on her life the more she comes to experience another pack that does not force her to be on constant guard, or isolating herself.
Such feelings linger with her as Asil drives her from her cabin to his own home. They had left in separate cars, mainly because Eun had mentioned wanting to pack a small overnight bag. The bag included not just clothes and a handful of toiletries, but fixings for breakfast that she could make in the morning, if so inclined. Settled in his passenger seat, she glances over to him, studying his profile in the quiet of the car. A smile crosses her lips as she angles gently toward him in her seat.]
Did you enjoy yourself tonight at Bran's?
no subject
But it had been so easy - and a little frightening at first. The laughter, the ease of it, the softness of Eun at his side as she pulled him arm around her shoulders.
He smiles over at her then, and offers his hand as he maneuvers the Subaru down the road to his home. ]
no subject
[She takes his hand of course, glad to take it. This time, she laces their fingers together and with some guidance settles them on her thigh. His answer makes her happy. While she hadn't felt guilty for pulling them back to the pack--honestly it was likely expected that at least Eun would join everyone--it certainly made her feel better to know that it hadn't been so much of a trial for him that he didn't enjoy himself.]
I think I want to say something before we get inside. [Because once they get inside she doesn't want to talk about it, she just wants to be with him and just...let things go as they will.] Reminders. Just so that you're on the same page because I'd rather say it all now than in the moment.
[Because whenever they get into the mood with things, the last thing she wants to do is kill it with talk like this. With her being so clear, and concise and not at all caught up in him.]
It's been a year for me, and the last time I was with someone I was still human. [That part is easy, she feels certain he already knows. The length of time is the least of her worries, but that she's never had sex since her attack seems significant.] But also...it's never been with anyone I cared about before.
[And apparently that makes her care a lot more that this first time goes well.]
no subject
He keeps his hand in hers, thumb caressing idle circles meant to to offer comfort.
Asil can scent her worry, but he does not speculate on it, happy to listen to what she has to share. Her concerns are valid. Part of the Change is an increase in one's sex drive and combined with new preternatural strength - a lack of control can prove dangerous for a human partner.
But it is her soft admission of caring for him that makes him slow the car to idling. They are close to his house, but this conversation is important.
When he turns to her, he lifts her hand to his lips, brushing a kiss over the backs of her fingers, the tips, and then finally pressing one to her palm. He lets the wolf peek out from behind his eyes, brown lightening to a hint of gold. ] It has been a long time for me as well, Eun.
[ He reaches for her cheek and traces the curve of her jaw with such tenderness. ] I can promise you, no more mishaps tonight.
no subject
There is a flush of self-consciousness that he's stopped the car for this conversation. She hadn't meant to make them linger, but Eun has always known that she wanted a partner who would respect her. What is it but him showing respect for what she says, that he gives it, and her, his full attention? Her wolf responds to the kiss to her palm, eyes lighting faintly in the dark of his car.
And when he responds, she realizes that she has not thought about this from his perspective. It has been a long time for him as well. She thinks he could mean it's been a while since he's had someone in his bed, but it seems more reasonable to assume he's talking about being with someone he cares about.
Turning into the touch of her cheek, she kisses his fingertips, offering a wry smile in the darkness. On a whim, she nips at the tip of one finger lightly.] I will trust that you're right. But on the off chance that there is a stumble, I just wanted to make that clear from the outset. Just in case.
[She does not radiate her worry, it does not consume her, but it is there in the back of her mind that for once she cares about not just someone's pleasure but their enjoyment. Eun wants him badly, and not just because it's been a while and not just because her sex-drive is higher as a werewolf. But for once she finds herself wondering if he will enjoy not just her body but the way that she is once they hold nothing back.]
no subject
[ And with that, he's turning back to the wheel and guiding the SUV towards the parking space close to his greenhouse. ]
no subject
That's certainly one way to get her mind off of the what-ifs and into the present. In an odd way, it helps her to know that he plans to go slowly at parts. They will not be mauling each other as they get in the door, and Eun can adjust her expectations accordingly.
Even if she thinks it may very well be torture if he plans to take his time that way. Eyes closing slowly with anticipation, she murmurs briefly:] I think it's impossible to ruin our fun if you're undressing me at all.
[Upon arrival, Eun lets herself out of the car, closing the door gently, and slips to the backseat to grab her bag. She settles it over her shoulder before walking forward, intending to rejoin Asil beside the car.]
After you.
no subject
Oh, by all means, after you.
[ He'll slip his keys into her palm, though she may not have noticed when exactly he'd fished it out from his pockets. It's a bit of showing off, he is vain after all, and after tonight's run, he is feeling protective enough to ensure that even in the safety of Aspen Creek, he puts her safety first. ]
