The Pan Pacific Defense Corps is an organization set up to battle the Kaiju threat through the use of Jaegers. Founded in 2014, the Corps represents an international alliance of 21 nations across the Pacific Rim, bound together by the shared goal of containing, combating and eliminating the Kaiju threat and save humanity from extinction.

In 2014, after the first Kaiju attack on San Francisco, the Pan Pacific Defense Corps was created with the purpose of defending the various countries surrounding the Pacific Ocean that would be under attack from the Kaiju. Soon after, the headquarters of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps was established in Hong Kong, China, this being the first Shatterdome. After Dr. Jasper Schoenfeld pitched the idea of creating giant mechs to battle the kaiju, the Corps were formed to fund the Jaeger Program.

SO, YOU WANT TO PILOT A JAEGER. LET'S SEE IF YOU'RE UP TO SNUFF. Welcome to Kodiak Island. For the next 24 weeks you'll have the chance to prove that you've got what it takes to be among the few who can pilot a Jaeger. We need capable pilots, so if you don't think you can hack it, better drop out now. The course will follow the following format, so listen up, you have: 1) OFFICER TRAINING: You will be studying tactics, some engineering, basic kaiju science, etc. Study good and study hard and if you're lucky enough to make the cut, we'll be shipping your sorry asses on to — 2) PONS TRAINING: There is a mock-pod simulator where you will learn how to drift with your chosen partner. Can't find a partner? Too bad. You might have the physical skills and the brains to go with it, but if you can't bring yourself to work with another human being, then what the hell are you doing here. 3) JAEGER TRAINING: Alright, you've made it. Report to the test range and get your asses in a Jaeger. INSTRUCTIONS → 1. Post with your character/canon/preferences.    (Mod Note: Pacific Rim OCs are very much welcome, if not encouraged.) 2. [ it's not competition in the usual sense of the word. when the becket brothers compete, there's no winner because where's the fun in that? it's gentle teasing and taunting, pushing each other to do a little better, or try something a little different. it's trust, and reliance, and it's what being a brother is all about. it's always been like that for them.

While her age and gender tend to work against her - though, thankfully, less and less guys are dumb enough to call her out on it - she plays what could be considered a weakness to the fullest. A few rounds in the ring have shown her all types of would-be pilots in the Academy.

[ Caitln Lightcap doesn't play favorites, that would be unfair and she's a professional. But she does have an eye for recruits who show promise for the Drift even if sometimes, those recruits try her patience (and everyone else's).

She walks into med-bay because Herc Hansen is off base with Marshal Pentecost at some conference with the beauracrats and as much as Caitin loves Sergio, she understands that he's a terror to the recruits because it's his way of keeping them in line. This makes it easy for her to play good cop, the approachable head of research and development (and unofficial mother figure or so Tendo Choi has said).

Occasionally though, she can be as much of a hardass as her husband (former) co-pilot. ]

Okay, so it's not like he's a celebrity or anything, but he knows people talk about him. Jason and Piper confirmed it almost as soon as he was brought into this program. How great it must feel, they say, to be promoted to a job where he can actually do some good, though they wonder if a lowly mechanic can make it as a pilot. The words get under his skin every time, but not because they doubt his ability. It's like those meatheads - perfect word choice, Goodman - didn't understand how important the mechanics really are. Without them, where would the pilots be? ]

Everyone in the room was studying quietly, preparing for a test on kaiju anatomy the next day. But quiet... wasn't really Sophie's style. She scoped out the room, finally deciding to get up a slip into a seat next to the Asian girl with the chill hair.

"Have you always wanted to do this?" As always, Sovay asked the hard questions.

[ tamsin is one of those people who isn't fully awake until she's had at least two cups of coffee. or the equivalent amount of caffeine in any other drink. it usually means she's a bleary-eyed mess when she gets to the mess hall and it's not until she's almost done with breakfast that she really wakes up.

today is no different. last night was a late night studying kaiju science and pons technology. and while staying up has always been incredibly easy for her, that doesn't mean it's always a good idea. especially when it means she only gets something like three hours of sleep.

so it really shouldn't be much of a surprise that when she gets into the mess, the first thing she does is get coffee. the second, some scrambled eggs on a tray. she makes a beeline for where luna is, sets down her tray, sits on the bench... and promptly slumps into her shoulder. ]

I thought I was done with all this shit after uni.

[ she really thought she was going to be done with tests and exams after she graduated from university. she really, really did. and while she understands the need to make sure all the jaeger pilots are up on their stuff ( it's like flight school, you can actually be a pilot without knowing how to fly a plane ) it's really annoying. which means tamsin more often than not shoves her way into wherever stacker is when she's studying and makes him listen to her talk. at least for a while. after all, a burned shared is a burden lifted.

not that she always talks about things that are actually relevant to whatever reading she's doing. no, that would be sensible and something like a study group. she just says whatever's on her mind. ]

he hates not doing well at things. he hates alaska and the cold that seems to creep into his bones and makes him miss australia despite the way he's come to hate sydney because of the memories it represents. he hates being called out on it, too.

sergio is a legend, though, and damn good at what he does and chuck wants to be a pilot more than anything else. he might hate the comment, but he clenches his jaw and curls his fingers into fists and wordlessly goes back to the start of the lane.

No. [ raleigh's not the same type of learner as his brother. he can get it, if he reads this stuff, it's just that he doesn't have the patience to cram it into his brain, that he'd much rather be out there and do something, listening to music or running, whatever.
